BOOKMAKERS' STANDS
The Fell Race
What was once a competition between farmers and their families and farmhands has grown over the years and is now one of the main sporting attractions of the Show.
4 classes to suit all ages.
The Fell race is overseen by BOFRA and starts in the Show-Field and the route takes the runners up to the top of Kirk Fell (Elevation, 802m/2,631 ft) and then back down to the starting line .
The record currently stands at just over 30 minutes – If you would like to have a go or think you can beat the current record then please feel free to enter – Entries taken on the day from BOFRA members on the field, please listen to the public address for details.

Children’s Sports
Again, what was originally put on to entertain the children of the local farmers has grown over the years to become a popular Show attraction, traditional races with prizes for the children and open to everyone. We believe this adds to making The Wasdale Head Show and Shepherds Meet a Real Family Day Out - Entries are FREE, taken on the day and are open to all children on the Show-Field, please listen to the public address for details

Terrier Racing
If you have never seen a Terrier Race then here’s your chance, the terriers are placed in miniature starting traps and a lure on a long cable and reel is laid out. The reel is wound in, the terriers are let loose and then usually Pandemonium – See it to believe it
There are no restrictions on the areas the dogs come from and entries are on the day.
